TIPS, HINTS & ADVICE ON e-METRICS

Please note: because of my commitments to the websites associated with my books, I no longer have time to add new articles to this page. That should not stop you reading them. This is for two key reasons:

1 Because they are mainly about the basics of digital marketing, they still have relevance today, and

2 They represent the history of online marketing - if such a short period can be described as 'history'.

If you want to fully understand the subject well enough to earn a living in the discipline - or just pass an assignment - read them and learn.

Optimizing Site Design - How To Increase Conversion by Reducing the Technology Barrier Another excellent report from the folks at MarketingExperiments.com. This stuff is real, not science fiction. It even tells you how to correct what might be going wrong - hence its listing on this page.

The title of this one sets it up - 'Bounce Rate' as Sexiest Web Metric Ever as does Bounce Rate Demystified which is an infographic which explains the issue - the follow up comments give even more insight.

Some of the terms used in e-metrics are either confusing or not agreed by all parties. This list of definitions are from the US Web Analytics Association - I suppose they should know, but some definitions they put forward are a bit complex.

This one does what it says on the tin - Configuring Google Analytics - A 10 step guide for marketers, designers and site owners [Just because its author is a competitor for my books does not mean I won't add links to his website].
